Thanksgiving came up a little rough for the website owners of some of Hip Hop’s biggest media sources.

Exactly one week after the Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously approved a bill that would give the Attorney General the right to shut down websites with a court order if copyright infringement is deemed “central to the activity” of the site — regardless if the website has actually committed a crime, Federal agents have seized the domain names of,, and

Earlier this year U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) launched an operation to “turn the table on thieves” who illegally share digital files. Since then, The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), who handles the assignment structure that forms the Internet’s domain-name system (DNS) and are used to route traffic through the Internet, has handed over 40 domain names.

According to the folks behind OnSmash, they are working with GoDaddy, Verisign, and ICANN to gain clarity on the issue.
